Troutman NC Real Estate

Known as “Lake Norman’s Front Porch,” Troutman is a town nestled in Iredell County, about 35 miles north of Charlotte. The town covers a total area
of approximately two square miles, and is home to more than 2,500 permanent residents.

Located in the Carolina Piedmont, the town of Troutman has a rich history, with roots going back as far as the 1750s. At the time, a large number of immigrants from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey were the very first residents to take advantage of the sprawling lands in North Carolina’s Piedmont region. The town was named in honor of the Troutman family, who played a significant role in the town’s history from the late 1700s to the mid-1800s.

During the decades following the Civil War, Troutman and its surrounding areas became home to several furniture makers and mills. The furniture industry eventually moved westward to the nearby city of Hickory, leaving textile and cotton farming as mainstays of Troutman’s local economy.

Today, Troutman is a town which has managed to retain its small-town charm.Residents here enjoy a laidback atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, while still being just a short drive to employment opportunities and incredible amenities in nearby Greensboro, Hickory, Lake Norman, WinstonSalem, and Charlotte.
